Our Relationship with Death

Death. At some moment we all have to deal with it. The loss of loved ones. And also our own mortality. And yet it is a heavy subject for many people. We'd rather not talk about it. We're afraid of it. We ignore it completely. We are trapped in our emotions.

A complicated relationship with death creates conscious and unconscious suffering in our daily lives: fear, loneliness, sadness, frustration, depression, ... We cannot change death. But we can change how we relate to death and thereby alleviate our suffering and that of others.

The Buddhist view of death is very different from our Western view. Like birth, death is seen as a transition to another state of consciousness. The physical body dies but consciousness remains.

During this day, teacher Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche will talk about the Tibetan Buddhist view of death. What it means and how people relate to death. And what we can do to develop a healthier relationship with death.

Biography of Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche

Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche is a high and precious Buddhist master. He bases his teachings on the ancient Tantric knowledge that has been the foundation of Tibetan Buddhism, Medicine, and Astrology. Having profound knowledge in these fields, Rinpoche now presents to the world the knowledge of his venerable lineage, integrating various disciplines in one, as they originally were. Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche’s knowledge and experience, his natural and compassionate way of teaching, his general kindness, and his wisdom make him a precious and valuable mediator and transmitter of the Tibetan Buddhist culture and traditions.

Lu Jong Practice

Before Rinpoche will start his teachings, we’ll start off the day with a Lu Jong Practice.

Lu Jong is meditation in movement. It harmonizes both body and mind and lets you fully experience joy, love and compassion. Through the exercises you gain heightened body awareness and mental clarity in which your self-healing powers are activated. It is a way to reach the silence of the mind.

The practice is guided by Laura Verstraaten. She is yoga teacher at Yogasite, a student of Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche since 2014 and a certified Lu Jong Teacher.
