Hi, my name is Helinde, i’m 30 years old and i substitute classes on a regular basis. Yoga gives me peace and quiet, which before i could only achieve by working out a lot.
Dancing, climbing, running. I did it as much and often as i could. I liked the challenge and pushing my boundaries, but i mainly enjoyed the calm in my head after a really intense work-out. This was slowly depleting my body. I got injured. My way of winding down didn’t work anymore…
Until i took my first yoga class while in Asia. I experienced real relaxation, letting go and feeling at peace for the first time in a long time. Without depleting my body. From that moment on i started learning more about yoga. In my classes i like to combine fluid movements with intense postures. To move the focus from head to body. In a challenging posture, you don’t have a lot of time to think. A posture doesn’t have to look perfect, but it has to feel right in your body.
I absolutely love the development and growth that yoga can bring, physically and emotionally. I still like pushing the boundaries a little, but i learned that pushing it and suffering while doing it isn’t the way. And i try to transfer that experience to my students.
